When she got accepted to Cure Acdemy, she was excited and met her new friends Kappy, Bloop, Coop, and Zappy. However, she couldn't become a cure until she met her partner,which was a few days later and it was Hiroko. Ushio is a great swimmer, and loves the water everyday.
